I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have been using EZ for about a year. I just installed DSL internet and did some windows Updates (about 130mb that I had never bothered with before. I started up Reaper afterwards and now EZ Drmmer is no longer authorized and I noticed that the Computer ID code has changed. As far as I can see all of my other VST work. Kontakt, Sampletank, Proteus X and Independence Pro all work. You will have to go back to Toontracks and reauthorize.

Just did this myself for other reasons. After getting EZ drummer and going through hell to get it to work, I experienced this CHANGE OF COMPUTER ID without change of computer. Suddenly, on the same machine, I got a message from Toontrack saying 'Hey you crook, you can't use our software [paraphrased]'. But they gave me a chance to type in the original auth number and it worked.

How many more times will they do that to me? And ow many numbers does Toontrack give you?

The manual is not a manual, but a marketing pamphlet. Horrible company, but the product (once you figure it out all by yourself) does sound good. I feel your pain/annoyance. I bought Superior Drummer a while back. Payed 300 bucks for it.

(ouch) It's annoying enough to have only four total activations, but to have to use up two activations for when you're on and offline is just stupid. Ofcourse, after shelling out 300 dollars, it's always nice to have a company assume I'm a criminal because I like to occasionally re-install my OS (as many do) for various reasons, or upgrade hardware. Strangely enough, restarting my computer did the trick, and it restored itself before I went and used up another of my authorisations.

In spite of this, I've been using Toontrack products for many years now, and have had no issues when I've run out of authorisations for a product. I just contact them and just tell them that I've upgraded my hardware or bought a new system. Keep your boxes, keep your receipts, and keep your authorisation codes, and they'll be nice and give you more uses. This just happened to me after accidentally unplugging a usb external hard drive.

How lame is that? Arggghhh Toontrack you evil $&U@@%. But Ez Player is a decent little program, though I agree the manual is more like an advertisement pamphlet. Do yourself a favor and make it so your product doesn't force people like me who don't use internet at home in their studio to get locked out of your software at a critical time when composing time-sensitive film scores. Its not a wise marketing decision. Not true at all--this is intentional policy as confirmed on their support forums, not an 'issue'.

Voila, 'different computer'--which required another authorization code to install it again. Truly stupid authorization system. I used to have this problem. I authorized with the network enabled and if I turned it off EZ would not work.

Well, I just now loaded EZ up with the network turned on and it played. Then I shut down Reaper and turned the network off and started Reaper, loaded EZ and it works. So, I don't know what problem other people are having. Unless a newer update that I never installed brought back the problem.

If you have the wireless hardware 'active' when you generate the Computer ID and authorize, you need to keep the wireless hardware 'active' or you will trigger a new Computer ID the first time you launch the software with the wireless hardware 'inactive'.' This policy is also still described in their FAQ: There is a nice special on EZDrummer going on right now and I would have purchased it if not for my experience with this issue and EZmix; if they have done away with this policy, they should let registered users know! I still use some software from 20 years ago for some ancient hardware samplers of mine. I don't like the idea of having to rely upon stability in company policies to request a new authorization code every time I connect an external hard drive or network adapter to my workstation.
