All the stress of trying to find a venue etc, in the next month etc, is stressing me out. Still don't know if they are definitely going to have a wedding soon, her fiance wants to wait till the end of this month, to find out his job situation which is a bit 'up in the air' at the moment? She has asked her sister and a friend to be her bridesmaid, and is thinking of having an engagement a party, but secretly having the wedding as well, while everyone is there at the party. Don't know what to do? Trying to suggest things, but feel really confused.can't book anything till her fiance finds out about his job but she wants the wedding in the next month or so. You really can't do anything but wait.

If they're waiting about his job, then you will have to wait. Since the situation is rushed, there is no way anyone can expect the same results as a wedding that takes a year to plan. I'd say have a plan flushed out with your younger daughter ahead of time so that once the job thing gets straightened out you'll be ready to book. Like a venue that you'll be able to book at the last minute. Perhaps for a Friday night and not a Saturday. Have some dates in mind and some venues in mind. Call and see if there are openings for the dates you have in mind, then let the manager of you favorite venue know what's going on and how you're having to wait to put a deposit on the place. I am afraid i don't understand the confusion. It is true that planning a wedding on such short notice is not easy, but all you need to do is make sure that your younger daughter understands that her actions in becoming pregnant and needing a rush wedding are going to cause you to be unable to give her the whole shebang that the older daughter is getting.

It was up to her to manage her life so that this would not have happened, but since it did and she needs a rushed marriage, then she will have to sacrifice some of the stuff that comes with a wedding that has plenty of time to plan. Make it a small intimate affair with a few friends and family.

I would discourage the idea of pulling a surprise wedding at the engagement party because family and friends are not going to appreciate that. Instead of having and engagement party, just plan a small quiet wedding for her. It can still be nice, but more subdued and laid back. Finding a venue is simple as well.any nice little hotel will do it. Or even a restaurant which has a banquet room.
